Why buyers lose

The dealership does this every day.
You do it every six years.

That gap is the whole business model. Not because dealers are villains — because the desk is built to protect gross profit, and nobody in the building is paid to protect yours.

We know the playbook. We wrote it for six years.

The four-square shuffle

Price, trade, down payment and monthly payment get moved around until the payment looks fine and the deal isn't.

Rate markup you never see

The lender approves you at one rate. The contract can be written at a higher one. The difference is dealer profit.

Back-end add-ons at signing

Etch, nitrogen, protection packages and warranties presented as mandatory when almost none of them are.

Six hours you don't get back

Waiting rooms, "let me talk to my manager," and a trade appraisal that takes an hour on purpose.

Free buyer tools · no signup

Run your own numbers first

These are the same four checks we run on every deal that comes in. Use them on the car you're looking at right now. If something looks off, that's what the free call is for.

VIN decoder & recall check

Confirm the car you were quoted is the car on the lot. Live vehicle database lookup.

Enter a VIN to see year, make, model, trim, engine, plant and open recalls.

Decodes from the public NHTSA vehicle database, which covers North American builds including Canadian-market cars. Recall data is US-published — always confirm open recalls with a Canadian dealer using the VIN.

Out-the-door price builder

Ontario. The only number that matters is the one at the bottom.

Ontario all-in price advertising: the advertised price must already include dealer fees such as admin, freight and PDI — tax and licensing are the exceptions. Anything extra appearing later is a conversation.

Payment & rate-markup calculator

See what two points of interest actually costs you over the term.

The buy rate is what the lender approved you at. The contract rate is what the dealership writes. Ask for the approval printout — you're allowed to see it.

Dealer fee auditor

Tick everything on your worksheet. We'll tell you what's real.

Included with every engagement

The market report we run before we negotiate

Comparable listings across the region, days-on-lot for the exact unit, listing price history, and a Canadian valuation on your trade. It's what turns "that seems high" into "here are four identical cars priced lower and yours has been sitting 61 days."

Comparable listingsDays on lot Price historyCanadian trade valuation Lien & accident history
Request my market report

Pulled on request rather than self-serve — the licensed data sources behind it are per-lookup, so we run it on the specific vehicle you're actually buying.

Straight answers

Questions buyers ask on the first call

If yours isn't here, send it by WhatsApp. You'll get a real answer, not a booking link.

Ask on WhatsApp
Do I need Drvaway to buy a car?

No. Plenty of people negotiate a fine deal alone. You need us when the numbers are complicated, the car is hard to find, or you simply don't want to spend three weekends at dealerships. The free 30-minute call is where we tell you honestly whether you need us at all.

How does it work if I decide to use Drvaway?

Free call first. If it's a Deal Audit, you send the worksheet and get it back marked up within 24 to 48 hours. If it's Full-Service, you sign a short representation authorisation, we collect your pre-approval, and we start sourcing. From there you get updates as they happen and you make every decision.

What documents do car buyers actually need?

Driver's licence, proof of insurance, and — if you're financing — proof of income and a pre-approval or credit application. For a trade, bring the ownership, both keys, and your lien payout letter if there's a loan on it. We send you a checklist so nothing holds up delivery day.

How much will you save me?

We don't lead with a savings number, because the honest answer is "it depends on how bad the deal in front of you was." What we guarantee is that you'll know what every line means before you sign, and that nobody in the transaction is being paid by the dealership to be on your side.

Do you take money from dealerships?

Never. No referral fees, no finance reserve, no manufacturer incentives. The buyer pays us and only the buyer pays us. That's the entire point of the model.

Which brands and areas do you cover?

Every brand — Toyota, Honda, BMW, Hyundai, Ford, Nissan, and the rest — new, used, lease or finance. We're based in the GTA and work across Ontario, and we regularly source from outside the region when the right allocation is there.

About Drvaway

I spent six years learning how the deal gets made.

Then I got tired of watching good people sign bad paperwork because nobody in the room was working for them.

— Sherif Diab, founder

6 yrsDealership experience
CanadaWide dealer network

Six years on a dealership floor teaches you things you can't learn from a review site. You learn where the profit actually lives — not in the sticker price, but in the trade allowance, the finance reserve, the protection package, the four-year-old unit on the back lot that the manager needs gone by Saturday.

You also learn that most customers do everything right and still lose, because they're negotiating one deal against people who close forty a month.

Drvaway exists to close that gap. Same knowledge, same phone calls, same vocabulary — pointed the other way.

What we stand on

Three rules we don't bend

Rule 01

The buyer pays us. Only the buyer.

No referral fees from dealers, no finance reserve, no manufacturer incentive. The moment a dealership pays us anything, we stop being your advocate and start being their salesperson.

Rule 02

You see every number.

Bill of sale, credit contract, lender approval, trade appraisal. If we've seen it, you see it, in plain language, before a signature goes anywhere near it.

Rule 03

The right car beats the cheap car.

Saving money on a vehicle that doesn't fit your commute, your family or your winters isn't a win. We start with what the car has to do, then we go find it.

What you're really buying

Time, and the end of second-guessing

Savings happen — usually meaningfully. But the reason clients come back is simpler: they got the exact vehicle they wanted, in the week they wanted it, without spending four Saturdays in a waiting room being worn down.

You make one phone call

Instead of eleven. We handle the dealer contact, the follow-ups and the "let me check with my manager."

You know the number before you go in

Out-the-door, all fees, all tax, agreed in writing. No surprises in the finance office.

You get the car you specified

Right trim, right colour, right options — verified as physically existing before you commit.

You sign once

At delivery, on documents that have already been read line by line by someone on your side.

Our mission

The pioneers of stress-free car buying

At Drvaway, our mission is simple: to completely revolutionize how people buy vehicles.

We are the pioneers of stress-free automotive negotiation. For decades, the car-buying process has been intentionally designed to confuse, exhaust and overcharge the consumer. We stepped in to break that cycle. By combining elite showroom closing experience with expert banking intelligence, we've built a modern advisory framework that eliminates the anxiety of dealing with dealerships.

As a leader in comprehensive car negotiation and concierge service, we don't just secure lower prices. We manage the entire transaction from discovery to delivery. We audit finance contracts, eliminate hidden dealer markups, secure the lowest interest rate you qualify for, and handle every piece of stressful communication on your behalf.

We exist to protect your hard-earned money, restore absolute transparency to the automotive market, and make sure your next vehicle purchase is exciting — exactly the way it should be.

What that means in practice

Four commitments, every single deal

01

Protect your money

Every fee, rate and add-on is challenged before it reaches a contract you sign.

02

Restore transparency

You see the same numbers we see, explained in language that isn't designed to confuse.

03

Remove the stress

No waiting rooms, no four-square, no "let me talk to my manager." We take those calls.

04

Answer to you only

No dealership, lender or manufacturer pays us anything. The buyer is the only client.

How it works

Our signature process:
from insight to delivery

We don't just ask dealerships for a lower price. We run a strategic process built from years of automotive and banking insider knowledge — so you never set foot in a high-pressure waiting room.

01

Identity

Your journey begins with a deep-dive consultation. We work closely with you to isolate your exact driving needs, lifestyle preferences and budget parameters. By matching your goals against live market analytics, we pinpoint the precise makes, models and trim packages that deliver the highest value for your investment.

02

Research

Once your ideal vehicle is identified, we go to work behind the scenes. We deploy our industry-insider network to locate available inventory, audit historical brand performance and pull localized market data. Because of our background in credit underwriting, we don't just look at the car — we research the lending parameters, true invoice figures and dealership incentives to find where the real margin is buried.

03

Negotiate

This is where our advantage changes the game. We intercept the dealership communication pipeline entirely. You never have to talk to a pushy sales representative or finance manager. We engage the dealers directly, using their own playbooks, stripping out hidden markups, doc fees and predatory backend add-ons while locking down the lowest interest rate and lease terms you qualify for.

04

Close

The hard work is done and your savings are locked in. We conduct a final forensic audit of the bill of sale and financing contracts to guarantee absolute transparency. With the paperwork verified, you bypass hours of showroom delay — you simply arrive, sign clean paperwork, and Drvaway with total peace of mind.

Car checklist · new vehicles

New car checklist

Print this, take it with you, and don't sign anything until every box is ticked. This is the same sequence we run for concierge clients — the difference is we do it before you ever arrive.

Have us run it for you
01

Before you contact a dealer

  • Write down what the vehicle must do.Seats, cargo, winter capability, commute distance, towing, child seats. Trim comes after.
  • Get a lender pre-approval in writing.Bank or credit union. It gives you a rate to compare the dealership's offer against.
  • Set a maximum out-the-door number, not a monthly payment.Payment is the easiest number in the building to manipulate.
  • Check current manufacturer incentives and cash-versus-finance rates.Subvented low-rate offers often replace a cash rebate. You usually can't have both.
  • Price the insurance before you commit.Same segment, very different premiums. One call to your broker.
02

Verifying the vehicle

  • Decode the VIN and match it to the quote.Year, trim, drivetrain, engine and options. Use the VIN tool on the home page.
  • Confirm the unit physically exists."In transit," "on order" and "available in the network" are three different things. Ask which one.
  • Check the odometer on a "new" car.Dealer trades and demos accumulate kilometres. Anything over a few hundred is a discussion.
  • Ask for the build date and time on lot.A unit sitting eight months is leverage. So is last year's model-year still in stock.
  • Verify freight and PDI against the manufacturer's published figure. It's public. Anything above it is dealer margin dressed as a factory charge.
  • For factory orders, get the build slot and estimated production week in writing.Plus what happens to your deposit if the timeline slips.
03

Inspecting on delivery day

  • Inspect in daylight, never under showroom lights.Move it outside. Lot damage and paint repair disappear under fluorescents.
  • Check panel gaps, paint texture and colour match under indirect light.Orange peel or a mismatched panel means it was repainted. Ask why.
  • Look for transport damage.Wheel rash, bumper scuffs, roof scratches, hood chips, glass pitting.
  • Confirm every option you paid for is physically there.Roof rails, tow package, upgraded audio, heated wheel, second key, cargo cover, floor mats.
  • Test every function before signing.Heat, A/C, all windows, sunroof, cameras, CarPlay/Android Auto pairing, heated seats, remote start.
  • Check the tires are the size and brand you were quoted. And that all four match. Note that all-seasons are not winter tires.
  • Take photos of everything before you drive off.Timestamped. It ends every later dispute about who caused what.
04

The paperwork

  • Get the full out-the-door figure in writing before you go in.Every fee, every levy, tax and licensing included. Emailed, so it exists.
  • Match the bill of sale against the quote line by line.Prices change quietly between the quote and the contract. Check every one.
  • Refuse add-ons you didn't ask for.Etch, nitrogen, paint and fabric protection, wheel packages. None of it is mandatory.
  • Compare the contract rate to your pre-approval.If the contract rate is higher than the rate you were approved at, ask what the difference is for.
  • Check the term and the total cost of borrowing, not just the payment.96 months at a low payment can cost thousands more than 60.
  • Read the trade-in numbers separately from the purchase.A generous trade allowance funded by a higher purchase price is not a generous trade allowance.
  • Confirm what the deposit does.Refundable or not, and under what conditions. In writing.
  • Get every promise in writing.Second key, winter mats, first service, touch-up paint. Verbal promises leave when the salesperson does.

General guidance for Ontario buyers, not legal or financial advice. Dealer obligations and fee rules are set by OMVIC and provincial consumer protection legislation — verify current requirements for your province and situation.

Car checklist · used vehicles

Used car checklist

A used car has a history, and the history is where the money is won or lost. Work through this in order — the paperwork checks come before you fall in love with the car.

Have us verify it for you
01

History & ownership — do this first

  • Pull a full vehicle history report using the VIN.Accident claims, registration history, and how many provinces or states it has lived in.
  • Run a lien search.A registered lien follows the vehicle, not the seller. Buying one means inheriting someone else's loan.
  • Check for branded or rebuilt status.Salvage, rebuilt or irreparable branding destroys resale value and can affect insurability.
  • Watch for out-of-province and out-of-country imports.Different inspection requirements, different rust exposure, sometimes an undisclosed history gap.
  • Look for a daily-rental or fleet past. Not automatically disqualifying, but it should be reflected in the price.
  • Verify the VIN on the dash matches the door jamb, the paperwork and the report. All four. Every time.
  • Check open recalls with the VIN.Free to check, free to fix at a franchise dealer. Do it before purchase, not after.
02

Mechanical inspection

  • Get an independent pre-purchase inspection.Your mechanic, not theirs. If a seller won't allow one, that's your answer.
  • Cold-start it yourself.A warm engine on arrival hides startup rattles, smoke and rough idle. Insist on a cold start.
  • Scan for stored and pending fault codes.A cleared dash light comes back in a few hundred kilometres.
  • Check fluids and look for leaks and residue.Oil, coolant, transmission. Then look under the car where it's been parked.
  • Inspect for rust properly.Rocker panels, wheel arches, subframe, brake lines, exhaust hangers, spare tire well. Ontario winters are unforgiving.
  • Measure brake and tire life.Pad thickness, rotor condition, tread depth on all four, matching brands, date codes, uneven wear.
  • Check battery health and, on a hybrid or EV, request a battery state-of-health report. On an EV this is the single most expensive component.
  • Drive it properly: highway speed, hard brake, full-lock turns, reverse.Listen for whines, clunks, vibration and pulling. Test the transmission through every gear.
  • Look for paint overspray, mismatched panels and non-factory welds.Evidence of repair that never reached a claim report.
  • Check for water damage.Musty smell, damp carpet padding, corrosion on seat rails and under-seat connectors, silt in the spare well.
03

Reconditioning & certification audit

  • Ask for the reconditioning invoice. What was actually replaced versus what was cleaned. There's usually a real record.
  • Confirm the safety standards certificate is included, not extra. An Ontario dealer selling a certified vehicle shouldn't be charging you separately for the safety.
  • Check service history for maintenance that's actually due.Timing belt, transmission service, brake fluid, spark plugs. A $2,000 service due next month is a price adjustment.
  • Confirm what remains of the factory warranty and whether it transfers.Powertrain, corrosion, hybrid or EV battery — different terms, different transfer rules.
  • On a certified pre-owned unit, get the actual CPO inspection sheet.Signed, with the technician's findings. The badge alone means nothing.
  • Count the keys and check the accessories.Second key fobs run several hundred dollars. So do missing cargo covers and charge cables.
04

Price & paperwork

  • Compare against real comparable listings, not the asking price.Same year, trim, kilometres and region. Then check how long this one has been advertised.
  • Price in every deferred repair.Tires, brakes, upcoming service. Get the quote before you negotiate, not after.
  • Get the out-the-door number in writing.Price, admin fee, safety, HST, licensing. All of it, one figure, emailed.
  • Refuse add-ons attached to a used car.Etch, nitrogen, protection packages and "certification fees" on top of an advertised certified price.
  • Compare the dealer's financing to your own pre-approval.Used-car rates carry more markup room than new. Check the contract rate against your approval.
  • Confirm the seller is a registered dealer, or treat it as a private sale.Private sales carry no dealer obligations and no compensation fund. Price accordingly.
  • Read the bill of sale against the advertisement. If the ad said certified, the bill of sale should not add a certification charge.

General guidance for Ontario buyers, not legal, mechanical or financial advice. Always obtain an independent inspection and confirm current dealer obligations with OMVIC before purchase.
